Canpro extends its services in Viet Nam with UNICEF
October, 2006
Beginning in the summer of 2005, Canpro Training Resources has worked with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) to build capacity within the national police service in Viet Nam. Initial projects focused on the design and delivery of training for police trainers in the area of "child friendly" investigative practices that are consistent with international law and good practices.
Canpro has agreed to build on our successfully completed police training and child protection projects, and begin development of national police training program focusing on the commercial sexual exploitation of children. Included within this program will be content on trafficking of children, international conventions relating to child protection and exploitation, international good practices, and strategies for planning, implementation, and assessment of training nationally.
Over time, our work in Viet Nam has included multiple trips around the country working with UNICEF, national police, Ministry of Justice officials and local groups to strengthen police skills that meet the needs of children who are victims, witnesses, or in conflict with the law.
