Human safety and private sector security standards in South America
June, 2007

On behalf of a global petrochemical client, Canpro has begun development of standards to be used across the range of international client firm sites in relation to human safety training, including supporting policies, practices, as well as standards for the training of contracted private security guards.

Of significant concern around the world is the lack of standards in the training and direction of contracted guards who are responsible for the detection and deterrence of threats to human safety and asset protection.

This exciting new project will require the development of knowledge and competency based training that meets the unique contextual needs of different hierarchies of staff groups and contracted security vendors, and in different regions of the world.  The first locale for the training is in the northern part of South America, and will require an extensive on-site deployment of leading Canpro instructors and managers.

While the newly developed standards will be global, the training for staff and contractors will be flexible in meeting local needs, cultures, risks, and threats.
