Canpro engages in police capacity development in Myanmar
August, 2007
In support of national child protection efforts being led by UNICEF, Canpro spoke at a national conference on juvenile justice in Yangon, Myanmar, this month. Also speaking at the conference was the recent Chair of the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child, and other international juvenile justice experts. Following this working conference, Canpro travelled to Nay Pyi Taw, the new capital of Myanmar, to work with UNICEF and national police to begin development of a national strategy aimed at strengthening police resources and enhancing approaches to child-involved investigations that comply with international human rights conventions and follow international good practices.
