Canpro expands it work with the United Nations
September, 2007

For the past two years, Canpro has been working with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) to address human safety through police capacity development in South East Asia. Building on this experience, Canpro has begun working on a project jointly sponsored by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), United Nations Department of Peacekeeping Operations (UNDPKO), and the United States Institute of Peace (USIP).

This project builds on the success of the recently released UNODC criminal justice system assessment toolkit, developed jointly with the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), and will result in the publication of a handbook on lessons learnt from initiatives to reform and strengthen criminal justice systems in transitional and post-conflict societies.

Focused on police, courts, and corrections, the handbook will be used both as a training guide, and as a way of applying lessons learnt to ongoing field operations and technical assistance programs that require criminal justice reform.

This is an exciting opportunity for Canpro to further develop its international expertise in human safety and security.
